John Marvin Ellis, Jr., 80, of Abbeville, husband of Geraldine Mocnik Ellis, died peacefully on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, 2015 at the Hospice House in Greenwood. He was born in Abbeville, SC to the late John M. Ellis, Sr. and Maude Rebecca Ware Ellis. Mr. Ellis served in the U.S. Army and was a proud veteran of the Korean War. He spent 30 years in Florida as an Equipment Superintendent of a general construction company. After moving back to Abbeville, he owned and operated Ellis Welding and Repair. Mr. Ellis was a member of Little Mountain Presbyterian Church and attended the Abbeville First Baptist Church. Surviving Mr. Ellis is his wife of 55 years of the home; five sons, Vincent Earl Ellis and his wife Teresa of Ninety-Six, John Marvin Ellis, III, James Martin Ellis and his wife Suzanne and Joseph Matthew Ellis, all of Abbeville and Troy Eugene Boltz of Orlando, Fl; two daughters, Robbie Ann Haddon and her husband Leroy and JulieAnn Ellis Davis and her husband Mark, all of Abbeville; a brother, Jimmy C. Ellis and his wife Edna of Abbeville; a sister, Jean Fleming and her husband Tommy of Iva; seventeen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Elaine Ellis Canfield. The family will hold a private graveside service. The family will receive friends from 1:30PM to 3:00PM on Thursday, May 28, 2015 in the Christian Life Center of the Abbeville First Baptist Church.
