John Darragh Hannah

John Darragh Hannah, 83, husband of the late Maggie Ellis Hannah, died Thursday, December 1, 2005 at the Magnolia Manor in Greenwood. He was born September 10, 1922 to the late Thomas Nickles and Jane Ellen (Ellie) McIlwain Hannah. Mr. Hannah was a member of the Hodges Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and Elder. He served in the United States Army serving thirty-eight months in the 83rd Infantry Operations Division, European Theatre, and WWII. Mr. Hannah participated in five major campaigns and was awarded the Bronze Star for Emeritus Service. He retired from Milliken, Abbeville Plant after 35 years of service. Surviving Mr. Hannah are his two sons, Emmett and his wife Faye, Wayne and his wife Rhonda, four grandchildren, Shannon Winn, Jennifer Hannah, Daniel Hannah and Leland Hannah and one great-grand-daughter, Savanna Winn all of Abbeville. Funeral services will be 2:00PM Saturday, December 3, 2005 in the Hodges Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in the Hodges Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Hodges Presbyterian Church PO Box 99 Hodges or to the Hodges Cemetery Fund, PO Box 99 Hodges, SC 29653 or a charity of ones choice.
