Johnnie Pearl "Tripp" Harris

April 9, 1927 — June 30, 2017

Johnnie Pearl Tripp Harris was born in Crawford County, GA to the late John Wesley Tripp and Curlie Mae Gadson Tripp.  She was preceded in death by a son, Marcus James Harris; three brothers, Howard (Maxine), Jesse (Lizzie), and John West Tripp, Jr. (Susanne); and two sisters, Reatha White and Bertha Millard (Jimmy). Johnnie fell asleep in death at the Hospice House in Greenwood, SC on Friday, June 30, 2017.  She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Brenda (Anthony) Davis; two sons, Gene (Demaris) Harris and Amous Harris; two brothers, Willie Elbert (Mattie) Tripp and Robert (Clemmie) Tripp; two sisters, Mary Willis and Rosa Hatcher; five grandchildren, Kasha, Kecia, Regina, Amous Jr. and Eboni Harris; nine great-grandchildren, Kason, Kayonna, Kayla, Jaren, Zamari, Dacir, Savannah, LaZaviona and Zyshaun; a beloved niece, Curlie Jean Oakes (Cleve); a cousin, Shirley Raines and loving nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Johnnie moved from Detroit, MI to New Jersey in the early 70’s and eventually began working for Trenton Psychiatric Hospital as a Human Resource Technician.  She was fondly nicknamed, “Grandma”, by the young patients.  Following retirement, Johnnie worked for some time caring for a doctor’s two children in Macon, GA, Hutch and Anna Blanche. She began studying the Bible with the Jehovah’s Witnesses in the early 60’s and was baptized in, or about 1965.  Johnnie offered her home in Detroit, MI as a place to have meetings and for field service.  When she moved from New Jersey to Georgia after retirement, her home was often used as a meeting place; as well as, a place to extend hospitality to visiting speakers.  Out of town relatives felt welcomed at Johnnie’s home.  She will be missed, but we look forward to the day we will welcome her back in the resurrection (John 5: 28, 29). A Memorial Service to Celebrate Johnnie’s Life will be 2:00PM, Saturday, July 15, 2017, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Atlanta Road, Fort Valley, GA 31030.
