Johnny Lee Davis, 80, of Due West, husband of the late Eva Nell ‘Doodie’ Woods Davis, died Saturday, December 31, 2022, at the Hospice House in Greenwood. He was born in Due West to the late Jack Joshua Davis and Sara Lee White Davis.
A 1960 graduate of Dixie High School, Johnny retired from the Erskine College Maintenance Department after 42 years of dedicated service. He was a member of SouthSide Baptist Church, Honea Path.
In addition to his wife and parents, Johnny was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Harriette Simmons; two sisters, Rachel Davis and Betty Brock; and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Davis.
He is survived by three step-children, John Cagle (Linda), Kirk Cagle, and Cathy Shedd; brother, Carroll ‘Sonny’ Davis of Hodges; step son-in-law, Kirk Simmons of Due West; five step-grandchildren, Stacy Gambrell, Jeramie Cagle, Daniel Bramlett, Bradley Shedd and Brandon Shedd; a step-great-grandson, Greg Gambrell who was reared in the home and many more step-great-grandchildren; a best friend, his dog, Jack.
A service to celebrate Johnny’s life will be 3:00PM, Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville Chapel. The family will greet friends and relatives following the service.
