Joseph McDonald, 72, of Abbeville, Lake Secession Community, husband of Lynn Stapperfenne McDonald, died Saturday, February 11, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Pittston, PA to the late Joseph and Rita Hart McDonald. Mr. McDonald served in the United States Army and retired from the United States Postal Service after serving for 34 years as Postmaster in Gillette, New Jersey. He was the past exalted ruler of the Stirling Elks in New Jersey, a member of the American Legion and Bells United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Bryan T. McDonald. Mr. McDonald is survived by his wife of 45 years Lynn of the home; two sons, Ernest J. McDonald of Westminster, SC and Shayne M. McDonald and his wife Amanda of Walhalla, SC; a daughter, Amy E. Watts and her husband Joel of Lexington, SC; two sisters, Mary R. Herring and her husband Dan of North Carolina and Maggie Sicklinger and her husband Tom of New Jersey; three grandsons, William J. Dean, Noah J. Dean and Joseph M. McDonald and one great-grandson, Adam Dean. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. McDonald will be 11:30AM Tuesday, February 14, 2017 in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with the Rev.
