Joseph James Rozar, 85, devoted husband of 42 years to Ora Kline Rozar, passed away on March 11, 2008, at the Self Regional Medical Center, Greenwood. He was born in 1923, son of Mary Verboski and Wasil Rozar, in Branford, CT. He leaves a son, William R. Rozar (wife Kay), of Litchfield Park, AZ, and a daughter, Lisa Ann Cabral of Branford, CT. He also leaves a sister, Laura Rozar Marrone, of Ocala, FL; grandsons William J. Rozar, of San Francisco, CA, and Robert K. Antoniak (wife Amy); great-grandchildren, Ashley and Robert Antoniak, of Phoenix, AZ; and nieces and nephew, Marilyn Marrone, CT, Cindy Marrone Eiber, FL, and Louis Marrone, CT. He was predeceased by his brother, William E. Rozar; son, Michael L. Rossini; grandson, Gary S. Cabral; and nephew, Blaine Marrone. He was an avid animal lover and over the years, adopted many cats and dogs from local shelters, including his current two cats and two dogs. A U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, Joseph served as a radioman in the South Pacific, including a tour aboard the class heavy cruiser, the U.S.S. Astoria. Joseph was also a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, earning a B.S. in soil chemistry. Before retiring, he was employed by several corporations in CA, CT and SC. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family in CT. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made in his name to The HospiceCare of the Piedmont, 408 W.
