Joyce Anne Porter (Murdock)

Joyce Anne Murdock Porter, 90, of Abbeville, wife of the late James C. ‘J.C.’ Porter, died Friday, May 5, 2023 at Self Regional Healthcare. She was born in Belton, SC to the late J. Boyce and Hazel Pruitt Murdock.

Mrs. Porter, was a 1950 graduate of Honea Path High School and attended Winthrop College. She retired from Abbeville Public Utilities Department following more than 25 years of dedicated service. Mrs. Porter was an avid antique collector, she enjoyed gardening and spoiling her beloved beagle ‘Millie’. She was a member of the Abbeville Presbyterian Church and the Ladies Day Circle.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, James ‘Steven’ Porter.
Mrs. Porter is survived by her two brothers, Jerry Murdock and Kenneth Murdock both of Belton and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2PM Tuesday, May 9, 2023 in the Harris Funeral Home Chapel. The family will visit with friends following the service.

The family will be at their respective homes.
