Juanita Calhoun Broadwell, 94, of Calhoun Falls, wife of the late William Mann Broadwell, Jr., died Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at the Hospice House in Greenwood. She was the daughter of the late Mary Neel Calhoun and William James Calhoun.
Mrs. Broadwell graduated from Ninety Six High School and Greenwood College of Commerce. After her marriage to William Mann Broadwell, Jr., she and her husband made their home in Calhoun Falls establishing an insurance business. They enjoyed their business association with the Sharon Drive-In Theatre. Employed as a secretary at Calhoun Falls High School, Mrs. Broadwell also worked at the former Bankers Trust. She was happy caring for her outdoor treasures, her beautiful camellias and azaleas; never considering it a chore to mow the lawn. A member of Calhoun Falls Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Broadwell enjoyed teaching the children’s Sunday School class and served as a trustee and elder.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an older brother, Jim Calhoun.
Mrs. Broadwell is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Anne Broome of Calhoun Falls, SC; brother, John Calhoun (Glenda) of Beech Island, SC; a special niece, Debra Calhoun, her caretaker for many years; a special nephew, Bert Broadwell (Cheryl), who was like a son to her and William, all of Calhoun Falls; and many other nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Mrs. Broadwell’s life will be 11:00AM, Saturday, October 23, 2021 in Calhoun Falls Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Dale Johnson, Rev. Lee P. Kennerly and Rev. Johnny Waller officiating.
The family is at the home of Elizabeth Anne Broome in Calhoun Falls, SC.
