Judy Brown Horton

Judy Brown Horton, 82, of Abbeville, wife of the late James David Horton, Sr, died Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Wesley Commons Health and Rehabilitation Center in Greenwood. She was born in Abbeville to the late Joe L. and Louise Rice Williams. Judy was twice married, first to the late William Brown.

After graduating from Abbeville High School in 1960, she embarked on a remarkable career with West Carolina Telephone Company in the Plant Department, retiring with more than 37 years of dedicated service. Judy cherished nothing more than caring for her loved ones and showering them with affection. Her kindness knew no bounds and she touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Judy was a member of Rice Memorial Baptist Church.

In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David Horton, Jr. and a brother, Bobby Joe Williams.

Judy is survived by her son, Bobby Brown (Tina) of Prosperity, SC; two daughters, Cindy Brown Simpson (Mike) and Cathy Brown Price (Johnny) all of Abbeville, SC; six grandchildren, William Allen Simpson (Hope), Nichole Elizabeth Simpson, Jacob Lee Brown (Leah), John Wayne Price, III (Rose), Kaitlyn Marie Brown, and Shannon Beth Price; four great-grandchildren, Ruby Renee’ Simpson, Ansel David Simpson, David Keith Godby and John Wayne Price, IV; and two sisters-in-love, Betty Fuller (Ronnie) and Shirley Williams, all of Abbeville, SC

The family will receive friends 2:00PM – 3:00PM, Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 3:00PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Rick Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
