Karen Sayer Bernard, 73, of the Savannah Lakes Village, McCormick, SC, wife of Myron Bernard, died Monday, November 29, 2021, at Emerald Gardens of Greenwood, SC. She was born in Abbeville to the late Charles Heyward Sayer and Martha Mundy Sayer.
A 1966 graduate of Abbeville High School, Karen attended Spartanburg Methodist college. She passionately served on the Abbeville Area Medical Center Foundation Board for many years. With her diverse talents, Karen was involved on various committees of the Foundation Board, always first to volunteer and willing to serve in any capacity needed. She enjoyed dancing, music, golf and entertaining. An enthusiastic NASCAR fan, her favorite driver was Rusty Wallace. Karen was a member of Warrenton Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Myron, of the home; son, Myron Bernard, Jr. (Kathy) of Abbeville, SC; daughter, Maggie Gross (Daryl) of Colchester, Connecticut; two brothers, Charles Sayer (Cathy) of Greenwood, SC and Chris Sayer (Lori) of Abbeville, SC; two sisters, Marilyn Moore (Wayne) of Braselton, GA and Julie Young of Acworth, GA; two grandchildren, Ayden Bernard and Reid Gross; a special aunt, Nancy Sayer and numerous cousins and friends.
A service to celebrate Karen’s life will be1:00PM, Monday, December 20, 2021, in the Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville Chapel with Rev. Jason Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:45AM and again following the service. A private inurnment will be in Warrenton Presbyterian Church cemetery.
