Kathryn Tucker Manley

Kathryn Tucker Manley, 98, of Calhoun Falls, SC, wife of the late Morris Manley, died Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at her daughter's residence in Leesville, SC. She was born in Abbeville County, SC to the late Ollie Bonner and Tommye Florence Black Tucker.

A 1942 graduate of Calhoun Falls High School, Mrs. Manley and her husband moved to Columbia for 25 years where she was involved in her community and was a member of Eau Claire Baptist Church.  In 1973, Mr. and Mrs. Manley relocated to Calhoun Falls, SC to take over the family business.  Together, they owned and operated the Red Dot Food Store in Calhoun Falls for 37 years.  A pillar of the community, she left an indelible mark on all who knew her.  Their store was not only a place to buy groceries but also served as a gathering spot for locals.  Mrs. Manley enjoyed traveling, especially to the beach where she spent many happy, relaxing days.  She cherished spending time with family above all else and loved them unconditionally.  Her presence will be deeply missed by all those who knew her.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her three siblings, Vivian Roche, Ann Harrison and Julian ‘Bootsie’ Tucker.

Mrs. Manley is survived by her son, Jesse L. ‘Corky’ Ayers, II of Calhoun Falls, SC; two daughters, Pamela ‘Pam’ Wilson of Lampasas, TX and Karis Hallman (Jimmy) of Leesville, SC; four grandchildren, Randy Wilkins (Sherry), John Wilkins (Nancy), Scott Wilkins (Barbara), and Ollie Wilkins (Mindy); seven great-grandchildren, Cassandra, Morris, Sierra, Jordan, James, Jackson and Grayson; one great-great grandson, Hudson Wilkins and many special nieces and nephews.  A special tribute to Ann Patterson and Kathy Roche who meant a lot to their Aunt Kat.

The family will receive friends 1:00PM - 2:00PM, Saturday, June 17, 2023, in Harris Funeral Home, Calhoun Falls Chapel.  Funeral services will begin at 2:00PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jerry Hayes and Rev. Jerry Dalton officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
