Kathy Y. Land Purser

Kathy Y. Land Purser, 68, of Calhoun Falls, wife of the late Ernie R. Purser, died Monday, November 20, 2023, at Self Regional Healthcare.  She was born in Abbeville to the late George and Mildred Jordan Land.

Kathy attended Calhoun Falls High School and Piedmont Tech where she studied textile engineering.  She was employed as a machine operator with Mohawk Industries before her retirement.  Kathy was a member of Calhoun Falls Church of God.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Wilbur E. Schuler, Jr.; sister, Brenda Land; brother, Rev. Gene Land; and a grandson, George A. Alewine, Jr.

Kathy is survived by her two daughters, Jean Schuler Alewine (Tony) of Calhoun Falls and Shanda N. Suarez (Rondell) of New York; a step-son, Ernie Purser (Pamela Petrus-Purser); two brothers, Ray Land (Wanda) of Greenwood, Roger Land (Pam) of Calhoun Falls; sister, Jenny Land Norris (Pete) of Antreville; three grandchildren, Jonathan M. Schuler, Kristopher M. Alewine (Aubrey), Zachary M. Alewine; and four great-grandchildren, Daniel, Carrie, Kylie and Emerson Alewine.

The family will receive friends Friday, November 24, 2023, from 1:00PM - 2:00PM at the Calhoun Falls Church of God.  Funeral services will begin at 2:00PM with Rev. Thomas Quinn officiating.  Burial will follow in Latimer Cemetery.
