Mrs. Katie Hershberger Stoll, 97, was born in Ohio on March 9, 1921 to the late Joseph and Mary Miller Hershberger. She went to her home in Glory to meet her Savior on Thursday, June, 7, 2018. Her family was with her, she was their example and inspiration. ‘Miz Katie’ leaves a legacy of warm and gracious hospitality, always having room for one more. She looked forward to meeting her late husband, William F. Stoll, Sr., who preceded her in death in 2008.
Bill and Katie, as they were known, enjoyed traveling, making new friends and having fish fries in their home. Seeking a more rural lifestyle for their family, they moved from Virginia Beach, VA to Abbeville, SC in 1969. In Abbeville, they found a community which they quickly learned to love and enjoyed all the outstanding kindness shown to them throughout the years. Katie was a faithful and dedicated member of Cold Spring Mennonite Church. She deeply appreciated her church family and was treasured by all.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Wilma; a son, Johnny; and two grandchildren, Bonnie and Charlotte.
Katie is survived by four sons, William ‘Billy’ (Barbara), Dennis (Marge), Robert (Rose) and Marvin (Susan); two daughters, Mary (Merl Beiler) and Lynda (Jesse Wagler); a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Stoll, all of Abbeville; thirty-seven grandchildren and eighty-nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm – 8:00pm, Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Cold Spring Mennonite Church. Funeral services will be held 4:00pm, Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Cold Spring Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family is at the home of Miz Katie.
