Keith Barnes

Danny Keith Barnes, 66, of Abbeville, SC, beloved husband of Aleta ‘Cookie’ Barnes, died Thursday, June 6, 2024, at his home.   Born in Granite Falls, NC, he was the son of the late Earl and Lois Barnes of Granite Falls, NC.  

Mr. Barnes graduated from Haywood Community College with a degree in Forestry.  He retired after 44 years from the United States Forest Service of the Sumter National Forest.  Mr. Barnes was involved, with his son, in the Boy Scouts Troop 62 of Abbeville where he was the Assistant Scout Master for six years.  An active member of the Edgewood Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years, he was Chief for 10 years.  Mr. Barnes also volunteered at the Abbeville City Fire Department for 12 years.  He enjoyed running, the outdoors, his family and was a member of NewSpring Church in Greenwood, SC

Mr. Barnes is survived by his beloved wife and soul mate of 43 years of the home; a son, Brian Keith Barnes and his wife, Shealyn; and three grandchildren, Madelyn Barnes, John Andrew Barnes and James Barnes.
