L. Freddie Waters, 67, of Abbeville, husband of Debbie Westberry Waters, died Saturday, July 25, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born in Abbeville to the late Harry and Maryse Chauvin Waters. Freddie was a 1968 graduate of Abbeville High School and retired after 33 years of dedicated service with Frontier Communications (formally GTE and Verizon). He then worked 4 years as a contractor with WCTEL Communications. Freddie was an avid fisherman and arrowhead collector, he enjoyed doing both while spending much time with his family, friends and especially his grandchildren. Most would think of Freddie as a 'Car Guy', he had a love of collecting cars. Having once owned 25 Studebakers he turned his love to Chevelles. In what has been labeled "Freddie's Field of Dreams" Chevelles became his special collection. He was a proud member of the Abbeville Wheels of Time Car Club. While he enjoyed fishing, car and arrowhead collecting, he also had a natural ability in Karate and Marshall Arts. Freddie was a Black Belt and won many awards for his achievements. Freddie was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and worshipped at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. His devotion to his church, his family and friends was unsurpassed. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Debbie of the home; three children, Jeremy Hallback and his wife Ashley of Greenwood, Julie Phillips and her husband Sean of Evans, GA and Jennifer Waters and her fiancé Bobby White of Anderson, SC; a sister, Harriett Waters of Abbeville; three special grandchildren, Aiden Waters, Conner and Cameron Hallback; a special cousin, John Ethridge and many friends and extended family. A Rosary service will be held Thursday, July 30, 2015 beginning at 12:30PM in Harris Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the prayer service from 1:00PM to 2:30PM on Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 3:00PM Thursday, July 30, 2015 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Robert J. Sayer officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
