SSGT Lewis Albert Brown, Jr., US Air Force, Retired, 93, of Calhoun Falls, SC husband of Emily Watson Brown, died Thursday, June, 15, 2017 at the Hospice of the Upstate in Anderson. He was born in Elbert County, GA to the late Lewis Albert Brown, Sr. and Muriel Fenetta Freeman Brown. Mr. Brown proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII and was engaged in the Battle of the Bulge, Battle of Hernigan Forest, Battle of Ardennes Forest and Battle of Germany with the 26th Infantry Division, 102nd Field Artillery Battalion. Upon joining the Air Force, he served in the Korean War and Vietnam War. Mr. Brown retired from the USAF with 20 years and 2 months service having received four battle stars. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church, the Adult Sunday School Class, Golden Age Club and Joy Group. Mr. Brown was also a lifetime member of the DAV Post 42, Air Force Sergeant Association and Retired Enlisted Association. He is survived by his wife of 50 years of the home; two daughters, Linda Pilger of Thomson, GA and Carol (Tommy) Story of Harlem, GA; six grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; and seven nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 2:00PM – 3:00PM, Sunday, June 18, 2017, at Harris Funeral Home, Calhoun Falls Chapel, 526 E. Savannah Street, Calhoun Falls, SC. Funeral Services will begin at 3:00PM in the funeral home chapel. Entombment in the family Mausoleum will follow in Latimer Cemetery with full military honors.
