Lois White "Nanny" Thompson

October 15, 1928 — March 30, 2014

Lois White 'Nanny' Thompson, 85, of Abbeville, wife of the late Leonard E. Thompson, died Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the Hospice House in Greenwood. She was born in Arnoldsville, GA to the late Cortez and Ada Goolsby White. Mrs. Thompson was a 1946 graduate of Abbeville High School. She retired, after many years of dedicated service, from the Milliken-Abbeville Plant. Mrs. Thompson was a member of South Side Baptist Church for most of her life. She loved playing card games, camping, watching Clemson ballgames and spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her three brothers, T.H. White, Junior White, and Wilburn White; and a sister, Laura Gail Humphreys. Surviving Mrs. Thompson is her daughter, Teresa Sprouse and her husband Danny of Greenwood; a sister, Lena Simpson and her husband E.F. of Greenwood; two granddaughters, Tammi S. Mentis and Niki Lawton and her husband Andy all of Abbeville; four great-grandchildren, P.J. Mentis, Lauren Mentis, Drew Lawton and Giana Mentis; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 2:00PM in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dr. John Keith and Rev. Reiny Koschel officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. The family is at the home of Teresa and Danny Sprouse in Greenwood.
