Virginia Louise Stone Farmer, 72, of Greenwood, SC (formerly of Abbeville), wife of Norman L. Farmer died Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the Hospice House in Greenwood, SC. Mrs. Farmer was one of eleven children born to the late James Elbert and Eva Strawhorn Stone. She was a member of Rice Memorial Baptist Church and The Outreach Sunday School class. Mrs. Farmer was dedicated to her family and her grandchildren were the light of her life. Their love was returned to her tenfold. Mrs. Farmer was a 1959 graduate of Abbeville High School and retired from Pirelli Cable. She had a passion for classic cars, especially fond of convertibles. This interest gave her much pleasure and she had quite a collection. Touring the mountains with her husband and the wind blowing through her hair gave her much happiness. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Keith Farmer, and five brothers and three sisters. Mrs. Farmer is survived by her husband of 52 years of the home; a son, Jeff Farmer and his wife Brandy of Greenwood, SC; a brother, William "Bill" Stone and his wife Joannah of Abbeville, SC; a sister, Margaret Betty Boyd and her husband John R., Jr. of Iva, SC; and three beloved grandchildren, Drayton, Jackson, and Maddie Farmer. Mrs. Farmer enriched the lives of many and will be remembered for her love and compassion which she freely shared with all who knew her. The family will receive friends Monday, August 19, 2013 from 2:00PM to 3:30PM at Rice Memorial Baptist Church fellowship hall. Funeral services will begin at 4:00 PM in the church sanctuary.
