Lucius 'Bud' Talmadge McCurry, 85, of Abbeville, died Friday, May 3, 2013 at his daughter's residence in Greenwood. He was born in Abbeville to the late Compton U. and Nellie Holmes McCurry. Mr. McCurry served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of WWII. He was twice retired first from Pirelli Cable Company and then from Gulf Life Insurance Company. Mr. McCurry was of the Presbyterian faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas McCurry. Surviving Mr. McCurry are his three daughters, Pamela Mathews and her husband Warren of Greenwood, Wanda Fields and her husband Carl of Ormond Beach, FL and Ann Raabe and her husband Edward of Ormond Beach, FL; a son, Raymond McCurry and his wife Christine of Winter Park, FL; his former wife and friend, Callie Speer McCurry of Greenwood; a brother, Olin McCurry of Summerville, SC; thirteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM to 11:00AM on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Harris Funeral Home in Abbeville. Graveside services with military honors will follow on Wednesday at 11:30AM in Melrose Cemetery with Rev. John Fastenau officiating.
