Luther Franklin 'Frankie' Rhodes, 72, of Greenwood, husband of Frances Hedden Rhodes, died Monday, December 12, 2016, at the Hospice House in Greenwood due to an extended illness of Alzheimer's disease. He was born March 25, 1947 in Laurens County to the late John Dewey Rhodes, Sr. and Carrie Riddle Rhodes. Frankie honorably served his country in the United States Army. He retired from Greenwood Mills – Harris Plant after many years of dedicated service. Frankie was a member of Harris Baptist Church, the Masters Disciple Sunday School Class and a Mason. An enthusiastic golfer, he enjoyed spending leisure time in the mountains and at the beach. In addition to his parents, Carrie Riddle Rhodes and John Dewey Rhodes, Sr., he was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Rhodes Burnette and Nancy Lee Rhodes; a nephew, Ray Burnette; a son-in-law, Michael Barnes Bouknight; two sisters-in-law, Karen Hedden Burton and Charlene McCurry Hedden; and mother and father-in-law, Helen Hedden Mann and James Virgil Hedden. Frankie is survived by his wife of 51 years of the home; a daughter, Sherry Rhodes Bouknight of Greenwood; two sons, Tracy Lee Rhodes (Tamara Burel) of Abbeville and Stacy Lee Rhodes (Vickie Carter) of Greenwood; six grandchildren, Brittany Bouknight Futch (Nick), Daniel Heath Bouknight (Lydia Batson), Carter Lee Rhodes, Anna Katherine Rhodes, Caroline Marie Rhodes, and Emily Lynn Rhodes; two great-grandchildren, Greyson Luke Futch and Graham Ellis Futch; a sister, Bobbie Nelle Phillips of Orangeburg; a brother, John Dewey Rhodes, Jr. (Joyce Hedden) of Greenwood; a niece, Lynn Burnette; two nephews, Gary Phillips (Sheila Callahan) and Ronald Rhodes (Cindy Hicomb); and great-niece and great-nephew, Brooke Rhodes and Hunter Rhodes. The family will receive friends 1:00PM – 2:30PM, Thursday, December 15, 2016 in Harris Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 300 Center Street, Greenwood, SC 29649. Funeral services will begin at 3:00PM in the church sanctuary with Rev. Frank Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery, Hwy. 20, Abbeville, SC with military honors.
