Luther Bert Williams

Luther Bert Williams,78, of Batesburg, S.C., beloved husband of Barbara Campbell Williams, died on April 22, 2025, at Lexington Medical Center. He was born in Abbeville, SC to the late Reverend Robert and Lizzie Mae Jones Williams.

Mr. Williams was a proud graduate of Abbeville County Schools and dedicated many years of his professional life at J.B. Martin Company in Leesville, South Carolina. In his free time, he was passionate about fishing and yard work, but his greatest joy came from his love of carpentry and working with his hands

He is preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Christopher Michael Williams, and twelve siblings: Geneva McCurry, Clarence Williams, Lester Williams, Alma Maddox, Aubrey Williams, Billy Williams, Helen Fortescue, Grace Graham, Brenda Wilson, Franklin Williams, Odell Williams, and Homer 'Doc' Williams.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara; his son, Christopher Bert Williams; his daughter, Kimberly Campbell; a sister, Patsy Newton of Lexington, S.C.; three grandchildren, Matthew Campbell, Justin Williams (Anna), and Adam Williams (Hailee); and three cherished great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Nathan, and Brantlee.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Harris Funeral Home, located at 302 N. Main St., Abbeville, S.C. Funeral services will commence at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, with the Reverend Paul Sprouse officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
