Madge Bunch Wideman, 89, of McCormick, wife of the late Walter O. Wideman, died Thursday, September 27, 2018, at the Hospice House in Greenwood. She was born in Lincolnton, GA to the late Theodore E. and Nettie Wheelis Bunch.
Mrs. Wideman was a graduate of Lincolnton High School and a 73 year resident of McCormick. She was employed by Riegel Textiles in McCormick and retired from there as Plant Manager in 1992. Her dedication to the McCormick area was evident in that she was a lifetime member of the McCormick Garden Club and an enthusiastic supporter of nine local organizations. Mrs. Wideman was a member of the McCormick United Methodist Church. Her gregarious personality endeared her to all who had the privilege and pleasure of knowing her.
In addition to her husband of 62 years and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edwin and Allen Bunch and a son-in-law, Don Wilson
Mrs. Wideman is survived by her children Walter ‘Roger’ Wideman (Martha), Patsy W. Wilson (Jerry Nelson) all of McCormick, Wendy Corbitt (Cary) of Hilton Head, Judy Smith (Roger) of Easley and Rick Wideman (Susan) of Boca Raton, FL; grandchildren, Dana Wideman, Brad Wilson, Donna Thomas, Parker Corbitt, Jason Smith, Christine Wideman, Katie Wideman, Brian Wideman, Timothy Wideman and Zackery Wideman; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 10:00AM – 11:00AM, Monday, October 1, 2018 in the McCormick United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Funeral services will begin at 11:30AM in the church sanctuary with Rev. C. Nels Ledwell and Rev. Don Clendaniel officiating. Burial will follow in Overbrook Cemetery.
