Maggie Beauford Bowie

Maggie Beauford Bowie, 87, of Abbeville, wife of the late James N. 'Pete' Bowie, died Thursday, January 15, 2015 at her residence. She was born in Abbeville to the late John B. and Florence Kirby Beauford. Mrs. Bowie retired from the Abbeville Shirt Plant and was a dedicated member of the Abbeville Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother and very much enjoyed caring for others. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers, John, James and Joe Beauford; four sisters, Mary Atkins, Ethel Alewine, Virginia Dove and Sara Culbreth; and a granddaughter, Tracy Bowie Mason. Mrs. Bowie is survived by her daughter, Brenda Bowie Norris and her husband Billy of Abbeville; two sons, James R. 'Jimmy' Bowie and his wife Myra of Elberton, GA and John N. 'Johnny' Bowie and his wife Belinda of Abbeville; nine grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 2:30PM on Saturday, January 17, 2015 in the Abbeville Pentecostal Holiness Church. Funeral services will follow beginning at 3:00PM in the church on Saturday with the Rev. Jerry Catoe and Rev. Marion Argo officiating. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery.
