Margaret Mckee Gray

September 21, 1925 — May 19, 2009

Margaret M. Gray, 83, of Abbeville, wife of the late James Wallace Gray, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at the Hospice House in Greenwood. She was born in Easley, SC to the late Howard P. and Roberta Bessie Baker McKee. Mrs. Gray was a graduate of Forrest Business College. She worked for Bolen Furniture Store in Abbeville and for the Abbeville County School District as a secretary. Mrs. Gray was an active participate in the Green Thumb Program, a program through the SC Workforce Organization for Seniors. She was a former long time member of Grace United Methodist Church and, most recently, a member of South Side Baptist Church. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, James Randall Gray and Terry Allen Gray; a granddaughter, Linda Christine Gray; two brothers, Richard and Melvin McKee; and five sisters, Launa Willingham, Edna Timmerman, Sarah McKee, Ruthel Irby and Lib Norris. Mrs. Gray leaves to cherish her memories her two sons, Sanford W. Gray and his wife Melinda of Abbeville and Kenneth M. Gray of Oconee; one daughter-in-law, Sharon Gray of Anderson; a sister, Bernice McAllister of Abbeville; eight grandchildren, Paul 'Skip' Gray and his wife Lee, Derrick Gray and his wife Kelly, John Gray and his wife Shelia, Chris Gray and his wife Julee, Alison Prince and her husband Russell, Nan Mann and her husband Donnie, Rick Gray and his wife Kimberly, and Maggie Howell and her husband Josh. Mrs. Gray is also survived by many nieces and nephews and close friends, Clara Martin, Sam Khali and Dr. Steven Carawan just to name a few. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 2:30PM Friday, May 22, 2009 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 3:00PM on Friday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Earl Hartley officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions, in memory of Mrs. Gray, may be sent to the HospiceCare of the Piedmont, 408 W.
