Margaret Price Mcilwain

June 29, 1918 — February 24, 2014

Margaret Price McIlwain, 95, wife of the late William 'Bill' McIlwain, of Abbeville died Monday, February 24, 2014 at Self Regional Medical Center. She was born in Abbeville to the late Walter Mance and Lalla Reid Price. Mrs. McIlwain retired as a seamstress after many years in the business. After retirement, she continued to sew as a hobby, along with crocheting, gardening and cooking. She loved her "birthday group" and it was rare that she missed a gathering. Mrs. McIlwain was a longtime member of Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church where she was involved in many aspects of the church, including one of her favorites, the "Long Canites." In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Louise Price and twin-sister, Virginia 'Gin' Culbreth. Surviving Mrs. McIlwain are several nieces and nephews including some very special ones, Ronny Culbreth, and his wife, Diane, Billy McKee and Lynda Byrum; great-niece, Cristy Evans, and her husband, Scott and great-nephews, Chad Culbreth, and his wife, Patty, and Brannon Byrum; four very special great-great-nieces and nephews, Brantley & Jeffrey Evans and Weston & Carson Culbreth and a host of extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 2:30PM Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will begin at 2:30PM in the church with the Rev. Wayne Wicker officiating. Burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery. The family is at the home of Ronny and Diane Culbreth. Memorial contributions, in memory of Mrs. McIlwain, may be sent to Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church, 194 Highway 20, Abbeville, SC 29620.
