Margaret Brown Stewart

Margaret Brown Stewart, 69, of Abbeville, wife of the late Bobby Joe Stewart, died Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Abbeville Area Medical Center. She was born in Anderson, SC to the late Alvin Thomas and Helen Link Brown. Mrs. Stewart graduated from Abbeville High School in 1959 and received her Associates Degree from Piedmont Technical College and her Bachelor's Degree from Lander College. She retired as a House Mother from Connie Maxwell Children's Home and was of the Holiness faith. She will be remembered as a person who loved, who gave, and who saw the best in everyone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, John C. Stroud, III, David Minton, and Gerald Grant. Mrs. Stewart is survived by two sons, Jason Thomas Stroud and John C. Stroud, IV, and his children, Lindsey S. Wilson, Lauren E. and Johnathan 'Luke' Stroud; a daughter, Marie Stroud McMurtury and her husband, Sammy, and their children, Samantha A. and Justin 'JT' McMurtury; a brother, Ronald Victor Brown, all of Abbeville; a sister, Evelyn Brown, of Winnsboro, SC; four great-grandchildren; and an extended family member, Allison C. Addis, of Abbeville . The family will receive friends from 3:00PM to 4:30PM on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 5:00PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family is at the home of her son, John, on White Creek Road in Abbeville.
