Marie McCurry Patterson, 83, of Abbeville, wife of the late John Albert Patterson, died Monday, September 25, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Abbeville to the late Julius A. and Lucy Powell McCurry. Mrs. Patterson retired after 42 years of services with Mohawk Industries and was a longtime member of Congregational Holiness Church. She was a 1953 graduate of Abbeville High School and always enjoyed spending time with friends at the class reunions. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Aaron ‘Bubba’ McCurry and two sisters, Ruth Kimsey and Callie McCurry. Mrs. Patterson is survived by her three sons; Rusty Patterson (Diane), Derek Patterson (Shelby) and Chris Patterson (Joy) all of Abbeville; a brother, Jack McCurry of Abbeville; a sister-in-law, Becky Patterson of Greenwood; six grandchildren; Eric Patterson, Jessica Patterson, Nick Patterson, Brandon Patterson, Brooklyn Patterson and Jackson Marlow; three great-grandchildren; Austin Bell, Sydney Timmerman and Bristol Patterson; special nephew and niece, Mike and Cathy Brown, who was like a daughter, and Linda Sorrow, a very special friend. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00PM Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the Congregational Holiness Church with the Rev. Willie McCurry and Rev. Tye Sorrow officiating. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers are, Eric Patterson, Nicholas Patterson, Wayne Patterson, George Norris, Rayford Ellis and Pat Hill. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Congregational Holiness Adult Bible Class. The family is at the home.
