Marion "Red" Bowie, Sr., 93, of Abbeville, husband of the late Doris Thompson Bowie, died Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at the Hospice House in Greenwood. He was born in Abbeville to the late Will Allen and Azalee Carroll Bowie. Red honorably served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was employed with Milliken & Co – Abbeville Plant and Bloomsburg Mill. Red was the owner/operator of the former Fish Hook Restaurant for many years. After his retirement, fishing became a favorite past time. He loved his family and being with his friends, spending leisure hours with them made him happy and content. Red was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Willie Lee Bowie, Curt Bowie, and Marvin 'Mott' Bowie and great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Snyder. Red is survived by two sons, Marion Bowie, Jr. and his wife, Becky and Benny A. Bowie and his wife, Tracey all of Abbeville; daughter, Linda B. Mitchell and her husband, Jerry of Greenwood; six grandchildren, Kim Griffin, Kerry McCurry, Valerie Snyder, Laura Evans, Riley Bowie and Keller Bowie; and eleven great-grandchildren. Graveside Services, with Military Honors, will be 2:00PM, Saturday, December 10, 2016 in Melrose Cemetery with Rev. Brian Arant officiating.
