Marion E. "Squeaky" Napier

Marion E. 'Squeaky' Napier, 83, of Abbeville, husband of Ruby Barrett Napier, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Friday, October 8, 2010 at his residence. He was born in Abbeville County to the late Monie E. & Lotus James Napier. Mr. Napier began working at the age of 16 with the Milliken-Abbeville Plant. He served in the United States Army having served in the Korean War as a cook. Mr. Napier also worked at the Abbeville Water Plant where he retired after 22 years of dedicated service. Following retirement, he worked with Ken Copeland Pest Control and then with Glenn Cannon until he turned 80. Mr. Napier was a member and Elder of the Little Mountain Presbyterian Church. 'Squeaky', as he was most notably known, was also a member of the Dew Drop Masonic Lodge in Antreville and the Korean War Veterans Association. He loved spending time outdoors and being surrounded by people. He is survived by his wife of 45 years of the home; a son, Marion B. Napier and his friend, Toni of Abbeville; a daughter-in-law, Melissa Napier of Honea Path, SC; a brother, David Napier and his wife Allie of Anderson; a sister, Ruth Ferguson Ashley and her husband Maxie of Abbeville; two grandchildren, Benji and Becky Cobb and two great-grandsons, Cameron and Nicholas Ballard all of Honea Path, SC. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Sunday, October 10, 2010 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 3:00PM Monday, October 11, 2010 at the Little Mountain Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Christopher Meyer officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service on Monday. Memorial contributions, in memory of Mr. Napier, may be sent to the Little Mountain Presbyterian Church Youth Fund, 3836 Hwy 28 N., Abbeville, SC 29620 or to the HospiceCare of the Piedmont, 408 W.
