Marion Camak Prince

Marion Camak Prince, 87, of Abbeville, wife of Harold Lawrence Prince, Jr. died Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the Lakelands Nursing and Rehabilitation Home in Abbeville. She was born February 16, 1937 in Laurens, SC to the late James Pitts Camak, Sr. and Lyda Tumblin Camak.

Marion attended schools in Ware Shoals and was a member of First Baptist Church. When she and Harold married, she joined him at Main Street Methodist Church where she was active in the Methodist Women’s Circle #6. She was also a member of the Abbeville Jayceettes and the Abbeville Cotillion Club.

Marion loved her family beyond measure. Her main goal in life was to be a wife, mother and grandmother. Mission accomplished. Nothing gave her greater pleasure than having everyone at her house in town or the lake house while she cooked a huge meal for them. She was an outstanding cook and rarely used a recipe. If you stepped into her house, you were immediately offered something to eat. If you declined, you would be offered food again and again until you finally accepted it. Marion and Harold loved to spend time on the lake. They started out camping in a tent, then a pop-up camper and then a motor home and finally their dream lake house. Marion’s fondest memories are times spent on Lake Greenwood with family, going to Race Weeks in Daytona every February with Harold and going to the beach with her sister, Glenda, her cousin, Jane and her sister-in-love, Emma.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Dana White and her husband, Joe Luke White, Jr.; a sister, Glenda Galphin Chandler; and son-in-law, Drew Mundy.

Mrs. Prince is survived by her beloved husband of 73 years, Harold, of the home; a son, Hal L. Prince, III; three daughters, Patti Howie (Tom), Kim Mundy, Milly Stovall (Paul); two brothers, James ‘Pitts’ Camak, Jr. (Emma) and David A. Camak (Deborah), both of Ware Shoals; ten grandchildren, Tige Howie (Jackie), Sarah Lynne Howie (Lamar Williams), Andrew Mundy (Allison), Matthew Mundy(Casey), Marilawren Phillips (Al), Anna Brown (Ron), Jo Beth Lee (Matt), Ilissa Skinner (Aaron), Baileigh Stovall (Josh Hall) and Ryan Stovall; and nineteen great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 1:00PM – 2:00PM, Friday, December 13, 2024, at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 2:00PM, Friday, in Main Street Methodist Church with Rev. Brandon Fulmer officiating. A private burial will be held in Long Cane Cemetery.
