Mark Daniel Vinson, 46, of Charleston, formerly of Abbeville, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at the Hospice Center in Mt. Pleasant. He was born in Greenwood to Marvin and Dorothy Alexander Vinson of Abbeville. He was the grandson of Pete and Martha Vinson of Abbeville and Emma Corley of Greenwood and the late Grady Alexander. Mark was a 1985 graduate of Abbeville High School and received his Bachelor's Degree of Health Science from the Medical University of South Carolina. He served in the United States Air Force during Operation Desert Storm. Mark was employed as an ultrasonographer at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston and was fully committed to his work since 1992. He was of the Baptist faith and an avid reader. Mark loved traveling to exciting, new destinations and enjoyed attending the Charleston Scottish Games and Highland Gathering each year. In addition to his parents and grandparents, Mark is survived by a brother, Stephen Vinson, his wife, Nancy, and their son, Caleb, of Campobello, SC; and a sister, Dr. Deborah Vinson Spencer, and her husband, Lance, of Donalsonville, GA. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 2:30PM Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 3:00PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial with military honors will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family is at the home of his parents, Marvin and Dorothy Vinson.
