Mary H. 'Lib' Addison

Mary H. ‘Lib’ Addison, 84, of Calhoun Falls, SC, wife of Jerry Addison, entered her eternal rest on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Abbeville County to the late Colie Hill and Frances Spires Burriss.  Her legacy will continue to live on through the memories shared by family and friends who were fortunate enough to have known her and enjoy her stories and contagious laughter.  

Lib, as she was affectionately known, graduated from Crescent High School in 1958.  Retiring from the Rocky River Mill, her commitment and loyalty to the company were evident throughout her 30 years of dedicated service.  Lib had a wide array of interests and hobbies that brought her immense joy. She loved music, especially to hear her husband, Jerry, play the guitar and sing country music.  She had a particular passion for the Atlanta Braves, rummy, puzzles, cryptograms, scrapbooking, and arts and crafts. Most of all she loved her family deeply.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Cleve P. Hill, Marion Burriss and Danny Otto Burriss; and a sister, Betty Jo Simpson.

Lib is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Jerry; two daughters, Jean Perkins (Rev. Dr. Derwood Perkins) of Brandon, MS and Denise Addison (Cheryl Basel) of East Bridgewater, MA;  sister, Clara Bell Higginbotham of Granville, OH; two brothers, Doug Hill and George Burriss (Tina), all of Iva, SC; two granddaughters, Lauren Henderson (Rev. Danny Henderson) of Santee, CA and Rev. Kayla Beck (Robbie) of Monroe, GA; four great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Audrey Henderson and Andy and River Beck; sister-in-law’s, Helen Hill and Penny Shotton; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 10:00AM - 11:00AM, Monday, August 14, 2023, at Harris Funeral Home, Calhoun Falls Chapel.  Funeral services will begin at 11:30AM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dr. Derwood Perkins officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
