Mary Nell Hancock Pendley

Mary Nell Hancock Pendley, 88, of Abbeville, died Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the National Healthcare Center in Greenwood. She was born in Bishop, GA to the late William Z. & Eunice Robinson Hancock. Mrs. Pendley was the wife of the late Wallace 'Bill' Pendley. She was a member of the Abbeville First Baptist Church and retired from the Milliken-Abbeville Plant after many years of service. Mrs. Pendley and her husband loved the game of golf and were faithful members of High Meadows Country Club in Abbeville. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Godwin and a brother, Felton Hancock. She is survived by her three sons; Wallace S. 'Wally' Pendley, Jr. and his wife Linda of Atlanta, GA, Tommy Pendley and his wife Peggy of Greenwood and Jerry Pendley and his wife Cindy of Easley; a brother, Horace Hancock of Houston, TX; a sister, Martha H. Fisher of Atlanta, GA; nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2:00PM to 3:30PM Monday, March 16, 2009 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 4:00PM Monday, March 16, 2009 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jeff Lethco officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Pendley, 110 Limerick Road, Greenwood, SC 29649. The family respectfully request that memorial contributions, in memory of Mrs. Pendley, be sent to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605.
