Mary J. Hershberger Swartzentruber, 85, wife of the late Norman Swartzentruber, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 28, 2016. She was born in Virginia Beach, VA to the late Jacob and Matilda Hershberger. Mrs. Swartzentruber was the owner of Swartzentruber's Bakery and a long-time member of Cold Spring Mennonite Church. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Paul Hershberger and a sister, Ruth Hershberger. Mrs. Swartzentruber is survived by six daughters, Loretta Swartzentruber, Ruby Overholt (Larry), Norma Willey (Jared), Anna Schrock (Joseph), Twila Swartzentruber, all of Abbeville and Keturah Zimmerman (Curt) of Myerstown, PA; two sons, Myron 'Butch' Swartzentruber and Ivan Swartzentruber (Gloria), all of Abbeville; twenty-two grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Annie Miller (the late Elvin Miller) and Edna Nisly (Lester); three brothers, Joe Hershberger (Rosie), Lloyd Hershberger (Joyce) and Jake Hershberger (Sara); and a sister-in-law, Martha Hershberger. The family will receive friends 6:00PM – 8:00PM, Friday, December 30, 2016, at Cold Spring Mennonite Church. Funeral services will be 10:00AM, Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Cold Spring Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in memory of Mrs. Swartzentruber, may be sent the Hospice Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646. The family is at the home.
