Melvin Randolph Willoughby, 69, of Calhoun Falls, went home to his Heavenly Father Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Self Regional Healthcare. He was born in Calhoun Falls to the late Melvin and Mary Ridgeway Willoughby.
A graduate of Calhoun Falls High School, Melvin honorably served his country with the United States Army. Employed as a carpenter and craftsman for many years, he built numerous homes and businesses throughout the area, including local banks and restaurants. Melvin coached little league ball while his children were young. He enjoyed bowling, shooting pool, and spending time with his family who were most important to him. Melvin was of the Church of God faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Smith and an infant brother, Patrick Willoughby.
Melvin is survived by his children, Kimberly Willoughby Barrett (Joseph King) of Abbeville, Stevie Willoughby (Jamie) of Antreville, Nikki Willoughby Powell (Jason) of Williamston and Robyn Willoughby of Lowndesville; siblings, Ernie Willoughby (Tenia) of Calhoun Falls, George Willoughby (Brenda) and Greg Willoughby (Sandi), all of Elberton, GA and Pat Beauford (Wayne Pless) of Calhoun Falls; eight grandchildren, Michael Daugherty, Matthew Daugherty (Katie), Zachary Barrett, Balin Barrett, Trenton Wilson, Ashleah Willoughby (Vance Ashley), AnnaBelle Willoughby and Adalyn Willoughby; and three great-grandchildren, Hayes, Gannon and Laney.
The family will receive friends 11:00AM – 12:00PM, Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Harris Funeral Home, Calhoun Falls Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 12:00PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. John Ellis officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Smyrna Cemetery in Lowndesville.
The family is at the home of Pat Beauford and Wayne Pless in Calhoun Falls.
