Melvin Yoder, 57, of Abbeville, passed from this life, Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the Landrum Hospice House in Landrum, SC. He was born in Norfolk, VA to Verna Byler Yoder and the late Henry M. Yoder, Melvin worked for many years in his family’s restaurant Yoder’s Dutch Kitchen. He enjoyed caring for doves and using them for weddings and funerals. Melvin worked at Stoll Fireplace until his health declined. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Elmer and Malinda Yoder and maternal grandparents, Harvey and Fannie Byler. He is survived by his mother, Verna of Abbeville; brothers and sisters, Ivan Yoder and his wife Marilyn of Columbus, NC, Julian Yoder and his wife Elsie of Pickens, Laura Graber and her husband Raymond of Amboy, Indiana, Barbara Hershberger and her husband Henry Junior of Abbeville and Juanita Yoder of Abbeville; eight nieces and nine nephews. The family will receive friends from 3:30PM to 5:00PM Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Cold Spring Mennonite Church. Funeral services will begin at 5:30PM in the church with Merl Beiler officiating.
