Merrell Quincy Garvin, 67, husband of Pia Garvin, of Abbeville, SC died Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the Hospice House in Greenwood. He was born in Aiken to the late Quincy Garvin and Ethel Aldrich Garvin.
Mr. Garvin received his Bachelor of Science degree from Clemson University and his Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from Texas Tech University. He worked in the telecommunications industry, on innovative technical projects, and in international business. Mr. Garvin made many friends during his years at Western Electric in Atlanta, as well as later in Japan, where he worked for Lucent Yazaki. He loved being out in nature whether it was at the beach, on the lake, in the garden, or landscaping at home. He will be missed by many.
Mr. Garvin is survived by his wife, Pia; a son, Cody Garvin (Jenny), of Atlanta, GA; a daughter, Stina Garvin (Peter), of Sweden; two sisters, Priscilla Irwin (Jim), of Abbeville and Jarrot Alexander (Fred) of Clinton; and three granddaughters, Hanna, Lea, and Ellis.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
