Michael Joseph Williams, 65, of Abbeville, formerly of Hazlet, NJ, died Monday, April 15, 2019 at his home. He was born in Washington Heights, New York to the late Raymond James Williams and Joan O’Neil Williams.
Michael honorably served his country in the United States Army as a member of the Military Police Corps stationed in Germany. Later, he was employed with the State of New Jersey Department of Motor Vehicles and retired after 27 years of dedicated service. In 2013, he and his wife relocated to Abbeville, SC. Michael, who was an avid gardener, was happily retired on his farm in South Carolina. He was a member of the New Jersey American Legion Raritan Post 23.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Williams.
Michael is survived by his wife of 44 years, Shirley; a son, Scott Williams, his wife, Lauren and their children, Benjamin and Lillian of Natick, MA; a daughter, Melanie Williams of Jersey City, NJ; a sister, Elizabeth DeSantis and her husband, Michael of Fair Haven, NJ; many loving family and friends; and his beloved cat, Riley.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, April 25, 2019 from 9:30AM – 11:30AM at the Laurel Funeral Home, 201 Laurel Ave #B, Hazlet Township, NJ 07734.
