Mona L. Parnell, 75, of Calhoun Falls, wife of the late Aaron A. Parnell, died Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the Hospice House in Greenwood. She was born in Calhoun Falls to the late Aubrey G. and Pauline Wilhite Langston. Mrs. Parnell was a 1956 graduate of Calhoun Falls High School and a member of the Golden Age group in Calhoun Falls. After many years of dedicated service, Mrs. Parnell retired from the Rocky River Plant in 2001. She was a lifelong member of Northside Baptist Church where she was very active in the J.C. Burton Sunday School class. She served as class secretary for many years and always enjoyed being a part of the Joy group. The special times in her life were spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Butch Langston and a grandson, Reese Parnell. Surviving Mrs. Parnell are her two children, Aubrey L. Parnell and his wife Rebekah of Calhoun Falls and Dee Ann Davis and her husband Ed of Abbeville; two sisters, Margaret Matthews of Greenwood and Sue Ann Rowe of Mauldin; three grandchildren, Josie Parnell of Calhoun Falls, Kelly Davis and Jonathan Davis both of Abbeville. Graveside services will be 10:00AM Tuesday, June 17, 2014 in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Abbeville with the Rev. Michael McMinn officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service on Tuesday from 11:00AM to 12:30AM in the Northside Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. The family is at the home.
