Myrtle Omeda Baney

Myrtle Omeda Baney, 87, of Abbeville, wife of the late Ray A. Baney, died Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital.  She was born in Elbert County, GA to the late William Walter and Eula Rosser Edwards.

Myrtle’s career led her to work at various places including Richard B. Russell Dam, Abbeville Area Medical Center, Cherokee Trail and Bigelow Sanford.  A Christian, who believed in the power of prayer; her faith was a cornerstone of her life. It was through her kind-hearted nature and willingness to help others by sitting with the elderly that she made the biggest impact on those around her.  Myrtle cherished every moment she spent surrounded by her loved ones and relished the memories she collected across the years.

She was one of fifteen children and the last surviving member of her family.  Myrtle is survived by her son, Charles Robert Eubanks (Cindy) of Barnwell; four daughters, Kathy Kidd (Al), Cynthia Lynn Kidd (John), all of Abbeville, Joann Strickland of Calhoun Falls and Levonne Sweat (Darill) of Abbeville; nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

The family will receive friends 12:00PM - 1:00PM, Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Harris Funeral Home.  Funeral services will begin at 1:00PM in the funeral home chapel with Mr. Anthony Davis officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
