N. Broadwell Ellis

N. Broadwell Ellis, 92, of the Level Land Community, husband of the late Georgia Speer Ellis, died Monday, October 20, 2014 at AnMed Medical Center in Anderson. He was born in Abbeville County to the late William Newton Ellis and Sally Mae Young Ellis. Mr. Ellis was retired from the Abbeville Oil Company after 35 years of dedicated service. He then later retired from J.T. Snipes Oil Company. Mr. Ellis was a lifelong and presently the oldest member of Little River Baptist Church where he served as a former Deacon and Treasurer for many years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years; a daughter, Elizabeth Elouise Ellis and a sister, Mary Ellis Wilson. Surviving Mr. Ellis are his daughter, Nancy Ellis Saylors and her husband Steve of Abbeville; a brother, Olin P. Ellis and his wife Mollie of Abbeville; two grandchildren, Tracy Higgins (Ben) of Hodges, SC and Kelley Thrasher (Don) of Abbeville; four great-grandchildren, Taylor Minick, Gatlin Minick, Steely Thrasher, Katelyn Thrasher. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 2:00PM Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Little River Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin at 2:30PM on Wednesday in the church sanctuary with the Rev. Garrett Hart officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family is at the home.
