Nancy Jean Neilson, 76, of the Savannah Lakes Village, wife of Charles Neilson, died Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Hospice House in Greenwood. She was born in Johnstown, PA to the late Paul and Vivian Van Horn Knipple. Mrs. Neilson was a 1956 graduate of Dale High School in Johnstown, PA. Prior to moving to South Carolina, Nancy was a planner and enjoyed being involved. She served as a Girl Scout Leader for several years, sold real estate and owned and operated her own arts and crafts store. Mrs. Neilson and her husband moved to the Savannah Lakes Village (S.L.V.) where they became members of the Lutheran Church by the Lake. She was a member of the Thurmond Lake Power Boat Group, S.L.V. Theater Group and the S.L.V. Wine Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and Wayne and a sister, Vivian. Mrs. Neilson is survived by her husband of 57 years of the home; a son, Jeffrey Neilson of McCormick; a daughter, Joy L. Strief (Jon) of Cincinnati, OH; three brothers, Jay Knipple of Florida, Tommie Knipple of Johnstown, PA and Roger Knipple of Cincinnati, OH; a sister, Peggy Tononi of Johnstown, PA; and a very special granddaughter, Lindsey Strief. A Memorial Service to Celebrate the Life of Nancy will be 11:00AM, Friday, November 27, 2015 in the Lutheran Church by the Lake with Rev. James 'Jim' F. Kinsler officiating.
