Nelle Gordon Hagan passed on to eternal life on May 15, 2008 at the Carlisle Nursing Center. She was born on March 22, 1915 in Donalds, S.C. to Mallie Smith Gordon and Thomas Herbert Gordon. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Paul Nickles Hagan. She was the youngest of seven children and was the last surviving sibling. She was especially close to her late sister, Lizzie Gordon Smith and her late brother, Fred Carlton (Jack) Gordon. The family will receive friends from 5:30PM to 6:30PM Sunday, May 25, 2008 in the Parkinson Lounge at the Due West Retirement Center. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Nelle Gordon Hagan will be held on Monday, May 26, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Greenville Presbyterian Church in Donalds, S.C. A private family graveside service was held on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Hagan was a long-term member of Greenville Presbyterian Church and assumed many leadership roles over the years. Her home was in the Arborville Community until she moved to the Due West Retirement Center in 1994. She was a resident there until her death. Mrs. Hagan was a tireless gardener. Her passion for gardening was evident in her beautiful flower gardens. She loved sharing her plants and flowers. She was an excellent seamstress and did beautiful needlework. Mrs. Hagan was the hostess of the Erskine College Student Center and is still remembered and loved by the students of that era. She also worked for several state and federal non profit agencies. Survivors include a son, Paul Gerald (Jerry) Hagan and his wife, Jean, of Stone Mountain, GA. and a daughter, Judy Hagan Bryson and her husband, Calvin of Charlotte, N.C. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Cliff Hagan (Tonya) of Snellville, Ga., Stephanie Hagan O'Brien (Dave) of Snellville, Ga., Timothy Hagan (Samantha) of Round Lake Beach, IL, Alison Hagan Rae (Mike) of Loganville, Ga., Beth Bryson of Brooklyn, N.Y., Rusty Bryson (Jennifer) of Charlotte, N.C. and Virginia Bryson Rhodes (Jack) of Atlanta, Ga. and nine great grandchildren. Additional survivors include nieces and nephews, James Hagan, Rose Hagan Childers, Carol Hagan Dawson, Robert Hagan, Patsy Hagan Howard and Donald McClellan.
