Nelson Lewis Skelton

Nelson Lewis Skelton, aged 69, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood. He was born in Greenville, SC to the late Brownie W. and Christine Simpson Skelton.

Mr. Skelton graduated from Greenville High School in 1972 and was a dedicated member of Big Creek Baptist Church in Williamston, SC. He had a fulfilling career, having worked at both Piedmont Natural Gas and Milliken & Company, Williamston Plant. Nelson found great joy in supporting his beloved Alabama team, and cherished the time spent with his family and friends.

Nelson was preceded in death by two grandchildren; Kaylee and Caitlyn.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 38 years, Shelby Skelton, along with their children Jessica Rice of Tennessee, Matthew Skelton of Belton, SC, and Amee Beaty (Jeremy) of Pacolet, SC. He is also survived by his three sisters: Janet Rogers of Wilmington, NC; Elaine Skelton of Wilmington, NC; and Barbara Skelton of Goose Creek, SC. Nelson will be deeply missed by his six grandchildren; Austin, Laurie, James, Kenzie, Mattie and Maddison.

Services to honor Nelson's life will be during the kickoff of the first Alabama Football Game 2023.
