Norman J. Swartzentruber

Norman J. Swartzentruber, 74, of Abbeville, beloved husband of Mary Swartzentruber, went home to be with the Lord Jesus on December 5, 2010 at Abbeville Area Medical Center. He was born on June 11, 1936 in Virginia Beach, Virginia to the late Jonas and Anna Swartzentruber. Mr. Swartzentruber was owner of Hill Top Electric and Swartzentruber Bakery. He was an evangelist and retired minister at Cold Springs Mennonite Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd Swartzentruber and Noah Swartzentruber. Mr. Swartzentruber is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years of the home; six daughters, Loretta Swartzentruber, Twila Swartzentruber, Ruby Overholt (Larry), Norma Willey (Jared) all of Abbeville, Anna Schrock (Joseph) and Keturah Zimmerman (Curt) both of Myerstown, PA; two sons, Myron "Butch" Swartzentruber and Ivan Swartzentruber (Gloria) both of Abbeville; nineteen grandchildren; four great- grandsons; four brothers, Eldon Swartzentruber and Ray Swartzentruber of Abbeville, Daniel Swartzentruber of Montezuma, GA and Merlin Swartzentruber of Ware Shoals; three sisters, Catherine Troyer of Farmville, VA, Susan Yoder of Rutherford, TN and Bertha Yoder of Fairview, MO; a sister-in-law, Viola Swartzentruber of Montezuma, GA; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. The family is at the home. The family will receive friends from 5:30PM to 8:30PM on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at Cold Springs Mennonite Church. Funeral services will be 11:00AM on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Cold Springs Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in memory of Mr. Swartzentruber, may be sent to Cold Springs Mission Fund, P.O. Box 196, Abbeville, SC, 29620.
