Olin P. Ellis, 85, of the Level Land Community, husband of Mollie Carrington Ellis, died Friday, February 19, 2016 at NHC in Greenwood. He was born in Abbeville County to the late William Newton 'Newt' and Sally Mae Young Ellis. Mr. Ellis proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his service, he and Jim Clinkscales owned and operated Edwards and McDill Building Supply for 21 years. Mr. Ellis was a craftsman, well-known for his carpentry skills and hand-crafted wooden toys. He was a well-respected, beloved member of the community and a lifetime member of Little River Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Rickey Ellis; a brother, N. Broadwell Ellis; and a sister, Mary Ellis Wilson. Mr. Ellis is survived by his wife of 67 years of the home; a daughter, Linda Ellis White of Abbeville; a son, Andy Ellis and his wife Mickie of Due West; three grandchildren, Jessica Speer and her husband, Chris, Anna and Jesse Ellis; and one great-grandson, Jonathan Paul Speer. The family will receive friends 12:00pm – 2:00pm, Saturday, February 20, 2016, in Little River Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin at 2:30 pm in the sanctuary with Rev. Garrett Hart and Mr. Andy Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family is at the home.
