Otis M. Fleming, 98, of 410 Cherokee St. husband of Wilma McCarley Fleming, died Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Abbeville to the late Lawrence Greene and Sallie Bell Tucker Fleming. Mr. Fleming was twice married, first to the late Floy Hilley Fleming then to Wilma McCarley Fleming. Mr. Fleming retired from the Milliken Abbeville Plant with many years of service. He then worked five years with the Bloomberg Mill before fully retiring to do what he loved, gardening, fishing and repairing neighbors' lawn mowers. He was a longtime dedicated member of Westside Baptist Church. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters. Surviving Mr. Fleming is his wife of 51 years of the home; a son, Mack Fleming and his wife Millie of Lyman, SC; a daughter, Dianne Bonds and her husband Sebren of Abbeville; six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2:00PM to 3:00PM on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 3:30PM in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. James Long and Mack Fleming officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Elberton, GA. The family is at the home.
