Patrea Karen Casey Bowser, 76, of Due West, SC, wife of Phillip Michael Bowser, died Sunday, August 15, 2021, at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood, SC. She was born in Detroit, Michigan to the late Maynard Elmo’Mike’ Casey and Dorothy May Proper Casey.
Mrs. Bowser, and her husband, served as missionaries for 18 years in Mexico, Costa Rica and Peru, working with Wycliffe Bible Translators. She was a member of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) and the Due West ARP Church. An enthusiastic genealogist, talented seamstress, Mrs. Bowser enjoyed the opportunity for political discussions. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bowser was preceded in death by her first husband, James Merry.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Phillip, of the home; her children, Colleen Lathan (David) of Rock Hill, SC, Jim Bowser (Laura) of Papillion, NE, Sarah Vande Voort (Henry) Of New Sharon, Iowa, Adam Bowser of Due West, SC, Elizabeth Hale (Matthew) of Weaverville, NC, Faith Alfonso (Charlie) of New Port Richey, FL and Ben Bowser (Paige) of Abbeville, SC; a brother, Michael Casey of Sebastian, FL; fourteen grandchildren, Amanda, Matthew, Mason, Isabella, Seth, Henry, Kendall, Clara, Jake, Alec, Cindelle, Ocean, Wesley and Spencer; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00AM, Wednesday, August 18, 2021, in the Due West ARP Church with Rev. Scott Moore officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A private family burial will be in the Due West ARP Church cemetery.
