Patricia Cain Pelfrey

Patricia Cain Pelfrey, 73, of Abbeville, SC, beloved wife of Carl R. ‘Rex’ Pelfrey, Jr., passed away peacefully at her home on August 29, 2024. She was born in Anderson, SC, to the late Raymond Walter Cain and Mary Jane Shaw Cain.

A graduate of Calhoun Falls High School, Patricia exhibited a profound dedication to her community and her faith. Before becoming a treasured member of Abbeville First Baptist Church, she was actively involved at Northside Baptist Church in Calhoun Falls, where she participated in the Woman’s Missionary Union and assisted with Vacation Bible School. Known for her servant’s heart and her deep love for children, Patricia taught Sunday School, and contributed her skills to the communion committee and floral arts committee at Abbeville First Baptist Church.

Patricia cherished her roles as a devoted mother, grandmother, and supportive coach’s wife. She had a passion for antiques and furniture restoration. 

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Rex Pelfrey, along with her daughter, Kim Clay (Michael) of Savannah, GA, and two grandsons, Grant and Zach Clay. Patricia is also survived by her siblings: Larry Cain (Marcia), Joyce Thomasson (Ron), and Donald ”Duck” Cain (Pam).

A service celebrating Patricia’s life will be held on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at 1:00 PM in the Christian Life Center of Abbeville First Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Chris Sullivan and Rev. Chris Guire. The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Pelfrey to Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.
