Paul Sterling Macaluso, 76, of McCormick, SC, formerly of Buffalo, NY passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 3, 2017 having said his goodbyes to family and close friends. Paul lost a brief battle with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia under VA Hospice care in Augusta, GA. He was born in Buffalo, NY to the late Samuel T. Macaluso, Jr. and Ethel Tropman Macaluso. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel T. and Ethel Tropman Macaluso, Jr. and a brother, Michael Peter. Paul was the cherished father of Jane (Robert) Feldman of Rodman, NY, Joan (Joseph) Shorter of East Point, GA, Julie Macaluso-Warner of East Point, GA, Paul (Kristen) Macaluso of Kennesaw, GA; grandfather of Ryan, Kalei, Zachary, Emma, and Claire; cherished step-father of Nancy Bashnagel of McCormick, SC, Robert (Julie) Bashnagel of Asheville, NC; and grandchildren Johari and Jackson. He was also the beloved brother of Kathleen (Robert) DeBlasis, Samuel T. (Sally) Macaluso, III, Mary (James) Pendergast, and Carolyn (Michael) Cimato. Paul served in the Navy aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt CV-42 aircraft carrier. He received a degree in construction and estimating from Erie Technical College, becoming a general contractor at Macaluso Fire Repairs, Inc. in Buffalo, NY. Paul also was a distributor for “The Messenger” newspaper in McCormick, SC. He enjoyed seasonal work for Securitas Security, which included four years at the South Carolina Heritage and ten years at The Master’s PGA golf tournaments. Paul was a strong advocate of community service. He served various positions with Rotary International for a combined total of thirty years (Amherst, NY and McCormick, SC). Paul was the 2004-2005 McCormick Rotarian of the Year. He was a member of the Lions Club for four years and volunteered at Hickory Knob Golf Course for ten years, retiring due to his health. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00AM, Saturday, June 17, 2017, at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 1401 Greenwood Hwy., PO Box 1468, McCormick, SC 29835-4722 with Rev. Father Robert J. Sayer officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Good Shepherd Catholic Church Columbarium.
